Another weekend of campaigning (in the rain)
Sunday, November 15, 2009

I had a busy weekend combining charity events and campaigning.

On Friday evening, Melissa and I attended the L&D Hospital charity gala at the Luton Hoo hotel raising money for the NICU appeal and celebrating the Hospital's 70th birthday.  Jeremy Brier and his girlfriend, Louise Clien, also attended (see picture) - along with Peter Lilley MP and his wife Gail.

On Saturday afternoon, we had a campaign action day in Luton and were joined by young volunteers from the Tory Reform Group (TRG) who came from across the country to assist in canvassing in Luton and braved torrential rain and gale force winds to add to our voting pledges.  What a brave group they were.  Luckily we managed to pop into a local pub between the rain showers to dry off!

On Saturday evening I atteneded a dinner to help raise funds for the local Mary Seacole Hostels and joined the Sir Stanley Odell (see picture) and members of the board who put such effort into this worthy cause which provides housing and support for young, disadvantaged people who may otherwise be homeless.

On Sunday I spent the day canvassing and replying to correspondence before joining Britain's youngest MP, Chloe Smith, for dinner and discussion about our election campaign strategy.
