More details of Margaret Moran’s expense abuses were published on the internet today (click here for a pdf copy of her recent receipts).
Nigel Huddleston said:
"Margaret Moran has a lot of front to claim she’s done nothing wrong when we can all see receipts submitted by her that include:
- a new kitchen
- new windows
- a cavity wall
- as well as the infamous dry rot bill for £22,500
And they are all signed off by Ms Moran with a declaration that:
"I confirm that I incurred these costs wholly, exclusively and necessarily to enable me to stay overnight away from my only or main home for the purpose of performing my duties as a Member of Parliament."
She claims she has nothing to hide and yet went to great efforts to make sure none of her constituents knew about these expenses, nor that they were for her property in Southampton, 100 miles away from Luton, and nowhere near Westminster. The woman is without shame!”
Meanwhile, as the sordid story of Margaret Moran’s expense abuses continues, Luton Labour party have selected one of her former close supporters, Gavin Shuker, as their new candidate for Luton South.
Nigel Said: "I welcome Gavin Shuker to the campaign and hope to have a good debate on the issues. But Mr Shuker’s previous support for Margaret Moran raises serious questions about his judgement and there is simply no getting away from the fact that he’s tainted by his association with her. I somehow suspect we won’t see them canvassing together during the election campaign!”
Mr Shuker has stated on his website that he worked for his ‘local MP’ in the past, but interestingly fails to mention that MP by name.
The current Ladbrokes odds for Luton South are: Conservatives (favourites)1/ 2; Labour 11/ 4; Esther Rantzen 6/ 1; Lib Dems 16/ 1 and other Independent’s at 100/ 1.
