Local Conservative Councillor to Head Fear of Crime Working Group
Wednesday, January 13, 2010

Longstanding Conservative Councillor, Michael Garrett, has been chosen to head up the Fear of Crime working group at Luton Borough Council.

Nigel Huddleston said:

"The results of a recent survey which Luton Conservatives sent out to thousands of homes in Luton, shows that issues concerning crime and safety are the number one concern of local residents.

Actual crime figures in Luton are heading in the right direction, but crime is still higher than surrounding areas and way above the national average on most measures.  More work needs to be done and we need to come together as a community and work closely with police, politicians, vonluntary groups, council and social services to identify the causes and then tackle crime at every level.

I am confident that under Mike's experienced leadership the Fear of Crime task group will draw up a solid plan for the future that we can all act upon."
