Luton South
Luton South is a true bellwether seat. It swings with the Government - and has done so in everly election since the Second World War. Betweeen 1979 and 1997 Graham Bright represented the constituency for the Conservative Party. Since 1997 the seat has been held by Labour.
At the next election all eyes will be on Luton. If Luton goes Conservative then it is most likely that the country will too.
Luton South is formed from electoral wards within the boundaries of the town of Luton, together with one South Bedordshire ward.
It comprises the follwing wards from the borough of Luton:
- Biscot
- Crawley
- Dallow
- Farley
- High Town
- Round Green
- South
- Stopsley
- Wigmore
And from South Bedfordshire:
- Caddington
- Hyde
- Slip End
A map of the constituency can be found at the ordnance survey website.
Luton South is currently represented in Parliament by Margaret Moran, a Labour MP, who presently has a majority of just under 6,000.
That means, with a swing of about 7.5% at the next election, Luton South can be represented by a Conservative again - and we will be one seat closer to getting rid of Gordon as PM!

In and Around Luton
For many years Luton was famous as a base for hat manufacturing (hence the name of the Luton Town Footbal Club) - and grew substantially as a manufacturing hub. The Vauxhall plant once employed more than 25,000 people, and while the car industry still has a significan presence, Luton Airport is now the largest employer in the area. The Airport directly or indirectly employs about 10,000 people; is the hub for the fast growing Easyjet airline, and caters to about 10 million passengers per year. Luton has more taxi drivers per head of population than anywhere else in the country.

The countryside surrounding Luton is beautiful and just outside Luton you will find the famous Luton Hoo Stately Home - now a luxuirios hotel, spa and golf course.
Also nearby is the world famous Whipsnade Zoo as well as several other farms and wild animal parks.
