Ten years ago today, on 7th May 2015, I was first elected to Parliament.
It has been the honour of my life to serve my constituents and a privilege to serve in government in several Ministerial roles including as Minister for sport, tourism, heritage and civil society (going into and coming out of the pandemic), as a government whip (twice), as Minister for international trade, and as Financial Secretary to the Treasury (where I was cutting taxes - remember those days?).
I also had the privilege of delivering the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham - the first major international sporting event post the pandemic; and in opposition I've served as a shadow Treasury Minister and now as Co-chairman of the Conservative Party .
It has been quite a ride with many highs and lows, but it has been incredibly fulfilling and I would like to thank everyone who has been on the journey with me and helped me in so many ways over the years and of course would like to thank my family for their support and my constituents for putting their trust in me not once, or twice but four times. Thank you.
