I was pleased to attend the launch of the Freedom Disco's minibus at the Pub in the Club on Friday afternoon.
The Freedom Disco is a weekly event for young people with learning difficulties, which takes place at ‘The Pub in a Club’ in Badsey. The Freedom Disco’s founder, Tracey Hemming, started a fundraising campaign to raise money for a minibus that would allow young people living further away to attend the disco. Thanks to the work of community groups, local businesses and individual donors, the campaign managed to raise the £10,000 needed to purchase a minibus in just six months.
I joined donors, community groups and the children who participate in the Freedom Discos at the celebration day for the minibus at the Pub in the Club. I am so pleased with the huge success of the fundraising efforts for the minibus. It is a credit to the hard work that Tracey put in and it was heartening to see the community and local businesses come together to raise the funds. The Freedom Disco is a fantastic local event and I am delighted that it will now be accessible to more young people in Worcestershire.
