I welcome the action taken today by West Mercia Police, the Environment Agency and other authorities, who have carried out a joint operation against illegal waste activity in our constituency.
The issue of illegal waste activity has become more prominent in recent months. Having met local residents on several occasions about this matter, I know how damaging these activities are for the local community. I have been liaising throughout with key stakeholders – including the EA and West Mercia Police – and I continue to raise concerns with Ministers.
Residents have understandably wanted action to be taken. Whilst some actions and investigations for obvious reasons cannot be fully in the public arena, the operation carried out earlier today is a positive step forward, and I hope we can continue to make progress against these crimes.
