While Parliament may have broken up for the summer recess, I have been keeping busy at a whole host of local events.
Last week I had the pleasure of joining Emma Goodge for a few hours to judge the Evesham in Bloom competition. I’d like to thank all the local businesses and households who entered and look forward to the results being declared in September.
On Friday morning I was delighted to attend the 4N Business Community breakfast meeting, where I had some fascinating discussions with self-employed owners and employees of small local businesses about the issues they are facing. Later on in the day, I was pleased to join the National Citizen Service team from Prince Henry’s and the De Montfort schools in Evesham at their fundraising event. It was really good to see the great work being done raising money for Wallace House, as well as to see the team enjoying their overall NCS experience at the same time.
On Saturday I was honoured to join the commemorations of the 752nd anniversary of the Battle of Evesham and the death of Simon de Montfort. The annual wreath laying ceremony was held in Evesham’s Abbey Park, led by Tony Spicer of the Battlefields Trust.
