While Parliament is in recess, I have been travelling around the constituency for a host of local events.
On the eve of the Easter weekend I was delighted to officially re-open McDonald's in Evesham, which has recently undergone a major digital makeover. The Evesham branch is one of 14 local McDonald's branches that are owned and operated by McDonald's franchisee Sarah McLean. The changes introduced as part of the makeover include self-service kiosks, table service, and an expansion of the dining area. The makeover has also created 50 jobs for the local area, including both full-time and part-time positions.
I also went to visit the award-winning Abbots Grange in Broadway. I had a great tour around the site which is a former monastic manor house that was built in the early 1300s. With its fascinating history and wonderful hospitality, it it easy to understand why Abbots Grange has just been named the UK's best Bed and Breakfast for 2017.
Back in Evesham, there was more positive local news in the form of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant being awarded to the Evesham Abbey Trust. I went along to the official announcement of the award which will go towards an exciting project on the site of the former Evesham Abbey. The Trust will be excavating and redeveloping the allotment area and I look forward to finding out what lies beneath the ground.
I also met with representatives at Kanes Foods in Middle Littleton, which produces salads and is a major supplier to supermarkets. The privately owned business is the biggest private sector employer in Wychavon, employing about 1,800 people, and is a critical component of the local supply chain as they receive the products for their salads from local growers.
I know that a lot of residents have been worried about flooding and I've been keeping an eye on river levels across the constituency throughout the week too. You can access the latest flood warning updates at https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/warnings
