Long Lartin Prison

I am deeply shocked and appalled by the violent incident at HMP Long Lartin in my constituency, where a prison officer was seriously injured. This is a deeply concerning situation in one of the country’s highest-security facilities.

I have recently met with Governor Babafemi Dada and remain in close contact with the prison’s management. I know how hard staff work to maintain safety and order.

My thoughts are with the injured officer and their family, as well as with their colleagues at Long Lartin, who carry out their duties with professionalism and dedication. It is vital that everything possible is done to protect prison staff and prevent further incidents of this kind.
