Today in Parliament I was granted an urgent question on the Government’s media strategy.
The Government wants “trusted” news providers made more prominent online, but who decides what counts as trusted?
An approved list? An algorithm? A regulator? A minister?
Freedom of speech and a free press matter. We should all be very wary of any attempt to let the state decide which voices should be pushed to the top
