My children and I enjoyed a fascinating visit to the Wartime in the Vale event near Evesham this weekend.
The event is one of the UKs largest military vehicle displays – which both my son and daughter were fascinated with. There were also re-enactments and many highly educational displays – including my children’s favourite of a 1940’s wartime shop.
The thing that struck my children most was that while many familiar brands (Cadbury’s, Kelloggs etc) were still around, the Lyle’s Golden Syrup tin is almost exactly the same design today as the 1940s. They also enjoyed the privy and asked what the newspaper was for!
