Meeting NN Cresswell Buses

On Friday, it was lovely to meet Mary and the team at NN Cresswell Buses and Coaches in Evesham to discuss local transport provision and regulation issues.

Meeting with Worcestershire Acute Trust team

I and other Worcestershire MPs - Rachel Maclean, Robin Walker and Mark Garnier - spent yesterday morning with Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Chief Executive Matthew Hopkins and his team discussing the performance of - and future plans for - our local hospitals. It was a very useful meeting.

Signing Holocaust Memorial Book

This week in Parliament, I had the honour of signing the Holocaust Educational Trust's Book of Commitment.

Increase in number of pubs

I'm thrilled to hear that the number of pubs in the UK has risen for the first time in a decade. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has recently released a report which shows that after a consistent and worrying trend of pub closures, the pub industry seems to be recovering.

 

Visit to Droitwich Spa Foodbank

On Friday, I visited the Droitwich Spa Foodbank, whose volunteers work diligently and consistently for the community.

Meeting local historian, Andrew Harris

I enjoyed spending time on Friday with local Droitwich historian and author, Andrew Harris.

We discussed his three volume biography of Sir John Somerset Pakington - the MP for Droitwich from 1837 to 1874.

Games Bill for Birmingham 2022

I'm deeply excited to see the newly reintroduced Games Bill back in Parliament, which confirms Birmingham as the host of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.  This Bill will legislate preparations for Birmingham holding the Commonwealth Games in two and a half years’ time.

Trip to Evesham Vale Growers

On Friday, I had a fascinating trip to the state of the art tomato growing facility at Evesham Vale Growers. 

As you can see from the pictures, the results are really quite amazing!
