Backing British Farming

I'm always proud to #backbritishfarming

The Prime Minister hosted the second annual Farm to Fork Summit today and announced a package of measures to boost British food production and invest in our rural communities, supporting our farmers and strengthening our security.

Farming is the lifeblood of our rural communities, feeding the nation and stewarding our green and pleasant land. However too little of our food is grown in the UK. That is why we are publishing our first ever UK Food Security Index, setting out our Blueprint for Growing the UK Fruit and Vegetable Sector, establishing new measures to ensure the sector has the labour it needs, and announcing measures to ensure fairness in the supply chain.

This will help ensure that British farmers are supported, and we can produce more of our food domestically.

The Government are sticking with the plan to improve food security and resilient farming businesses, cut unnecessary red tape to boost British farming and ensure a strong domestic food supply for generations to come.
