I was honoured to join in the Burma Star and VJ day Commemorations in Bromsgrove on Saturday.
It was a very well organized and very moving ceremony. I was particularly impressed by how many people attended from across the generations.
The cermony was held at the Bromsgrove Memorial to all those who served and died in the Burma Campaign 1941-45 - more than 1 million people in all, and often called the 'forgotten army'. I was proud to play my part on Saturday to show that for many of us, nothing is forgotten.
It was a pleasure to meet so many veterans of the Burma Campaign and many other wars at the event. You truly make me proud to be British.
